Hi I’m Rose. . .welcome to The Floral Canine
This business has been a dream in my heart for a long time.
For as long as I can remember I have loved animals. I was very fortunate to have grown up with many animals. We had a small menagerie of dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. My Mum Christina modelled how to look after our animals with tenderness, kindness, respect and immense love.
As a child I particularly loved elephants and at one stage wanted to be a ‘mahout’, someone who works with and tends to these amazing creatures. I also wanted to work for Guide Dogs for the Blind training the dogs. After that I decided I wanted to be a vet.
So these seeds of desire to help animals were there right from the start although life and professional work ended up taking me on a more circuitous route to finally setting up my holistic animal business.
I reconnected with my love for animals in my 30’s when I discovered backpacking and volunteering abroad. I volunteered at several animal rescue organisations in India and Thailand after realising that I wanted travelling and being a volunteer really led to the most meaningful experiences on my adventures.
In 2019 I volunteered Tree of Life for Animals. A rescue centre near Pushkar, Rajasthan. It was here that I first started using essential oils with the dogs recovering at the shelter having completed some training with Caroline Ingraham who pioneered this approach with animals.
I also met my ‘Soul dog’ Bodhi at the shelter. I adopted Bodhi and he stayed with me in Pushkar and we enjoyed an adventure all the way to Delhi and then on to the Himalayas!
I returned to the UK with Bodhi in December 2019. I have since adopted Dorothy and Raffy from a shelter in Romania.
I continued my studies and became a certified Animal PsychAromatica practitioner in 2025. I’m planning to take further courses in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Canine Nutrition in 2026.
I’m so excited to be offering this work, supporting rescue dogs and their guardians.
I look forward to connecting with you!!
Love Rose, Bodhi, Dorothy and Raffy xx
My Vision for The Floral Canine
My vision for The Floral Canine is to give animals, in particular rescue dogs the opportunity to activate their instinctive abilities to self-select botanical remedies that will support them in their healing journey whether it’s physical, emotional or behavioural difficulties they are experiencing.
Domesticated animals don’t have very much choice over their lives, therefore using the APA approach is giving them the choice to be an active participant in the healing process and recognising their capabilities and innate wisdom.
Supporting Rescues Abroad and in the UK
I want to support rescue organisations abroad by donating proceeds from The Floral Canine to selected organisations. The photos of me to the right (including with my dog Bodhi as a cute pup!) were taken whilst volunteering in India. One of the organisations close to my heart and who I will be supporting with this work, is Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA) based near Pushkar, Rajasthan.
I am also planning to support rescue shelters here in the UK by offering pro bono services for dogs with emotional and behavioural issues with the aim of helping them to become easier to rehome.
Ultimately I would like to set up a charity supporting rescue dogs here in the UK and abroad and collaborating with other holistic animal practitioners.
